It was yesterday, yes. I would call ahead, they were very busy.
Back section is ok with 🐕
I concur with Cocoa. The main entrance on Main St. is handicap accessible although the back entrance is not (steep incline and mainly gravel).
Unsure about that. Call them and ask
Great choice and variety of food. Plenty of space and doesn't feel cramped. Our meals were cooked perfectly and had great flavor. Definitely not just your average pub grub!
Delicious food. Had the calzone which is cooked in a brick oven and my husband had the shrimp Po boy. I can highly recommend.
Wanted to support local businesses during the pandemic. Big mistake going here! Awful service. We were left to sit for a long time after we'd put down our food while the waitstaff had a little party, smoking and joking on the patio. Finally I had to get up and find our waitress to ask for the check. Also the food did not taste good and later gave us indigestion (I have lingering questions about sanitary procedures in the kitchen from watching the back end staff through the kitchen door during our interminable wait for the check). I don't know how anyone running a restaurant could find what we saw and tasted acceptable.
What an awesome place! Fun! Craft beers... delicious brick oven pizza & fantastic chicken wings!
I’ve eaten here several times! The food is always on point. The menu will always have something a little different!
Below avg food that is over priced. The Pepperoni Roll was not even close to being good. Sauce was watery (Literally had water in the spoon), cold and I believe the cook forgot to put it in the oven to even melt the cheese on top. To be fair they took it off our bill after we told our server it was not good. The pulled pork sandwich was overloaded with BBQ sauce. It said it was smoked which I could see the smoker out side but I could not taste any smoke flavor over the BBQ sauce. Also it contained one to many fatty bits for my taste but I know some ppl enjoy that. For the price and what you are paying for I do not recommend this place.
Cozy warm atmosphere. I tried the duck with shrimp and grits. It was perfectly cooked. My server was friendly and knowledgeable.
Great food, staff, and ambiance! The putin fries were amazing.
The food was really really good i had buffalo chicken sandwich the best i have highly recommend it and the crab cake sandwich was great lots of meat little filler and if you eat out back its dog friendly place
This is a great place to eat or grab a drink. They have a nice patio that is dog friendly. There is a large variety of food to choose from. Healthy options as well as pizza, burgers, hot dogs. Their cocktails are great. They have a nice local beer selection. We love taking the family.
I honestly love their dishes and customer service, awesome location close to my residence. The cashiers are always very friendly. Highly recommended.
I'm the kind of person who generally sticks with a few items menu items when I find something I like... Until I started going to Black Bear. I've eaten here 15+ times, ordering something different, and have yet to be disappointed. I drive to Warrenton from Bristow just to get my fix of Black Bear fare. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, great food!!
Cute local spot with a great theme and wide-ranging menu. It was exactly what we were looking for in the historic district. We were disappointed with the service; we were seated on the patio and our server was clearly in the weeds. When we finally did get our food, he definitely did not handle the situation gracefully. Our server was the only one who seemed to be struggling, so I do not think it an issue with the restaurant as a whole. We will probably stop by again next fall in hopes that we could finally try some of that brick oven pizza.
Came in for Lunch, it was our first visit. Staff was very friendly and the service was good ( Sarah made our first time an enjoyable experience. Establishment was clean and inviting with a cozy old fashioned feel to it.Food came out quickly with no mistakes to our order. We had hand made pizza with a side salad and a burger with fries. Everything had a real good flavor. The pizza was neither doughy nor over done. And the side salad appeared fresh with no wilting. The burger though well done(👍 done right the first time) still had a good flavor. And the fries were very good. Will definitely be returning.
My wife and I were looking for a place for lunch when we happened upon this place. Our food was prepared to perfection and service was very pleasant. PS....awesome cole slaw!PPS....fries are great too!
Found this place by simple "food near me" search on a drive through the area. Had never been to downtown Warrenton before but it was a neat little town and the food at Black Bear was much better than what we expected from bar and pizza environment. Service was a little slow but the tasty meatloaf and gravy was excellent! Go out of your way and try it sometime. Great reward for bypassing the main drag with all the fast food chains
Black Bear bistro has never failed to provide delicious food and great service! Their brick oven pizza, wings and burgers never disappoint! I will definitely come again!
We went here for Dinner. Our waitress was friendly but did not go out of her way. She never offered an appetizer or dessert. I ordered a medium rare New York Strip, the wife ordered a pizza. They only offered asparagus for the vegetable with the steak which I thought was strange. The pizza showed up at least 5 minutes before my steak. The wife waited as long as she could before eating to be polite but I told her to go ahead and eat and the pizza was already semi cold by then. The steak came out more medium than medium rare. While good I think it could have been a little bit more tender if it hadn't been overcooked. At the end of our meal our waitress never offered us coffee or dessert, simply brought us or check.
I had the most delectable meal last Saturday night. I don’t usually write reviews but it was so good I feel a need to. Duck and grits were so incredibly tasty, my tummy was so happy. 😊 It was a duck breast cooked to utter perfection and cheddar grits with the perfect combo of shrimp, tomato and mushrooms sautéed in Chardonnay butter. I can’t say enough good things about it! My friend had the prime rib special and she really liked that as well. The service was good too. I hope to be back!
The food was amazing! Having been in the food industry for over 20 years, it's hard to find food that wows me. Well this place did! I look forward to trying the slice of home-made cheesecake I got to go. I was too stuffed to eat it there but I didn't want the deliciousness to end.
Cozy little place in downtown Warrenton. The staff was nice and the food was amazing!
The concept and atmosphere are great. However, their execution is lacking. Their poutine was ok, but their calzone was... interesting. The entire inside was just raw dough with calzone ingredients mixed in.
Reliably good and fun. Food is excellent with a wide assortment of worthy dishes. Staff is able and eager to please. Good atmosphere, indoors and out. We are repeat customers.
Very enjoyable first time in this quaint, romantic restaurant. Fast, friendly service from hostess to table. All drinks, appetizers, entrees, and desserts came out on time, were well seasoned, and delicious. Overall an excellent experience, would definitely return again.
I've been to Black Bear Bistro twice and have had great but very different experiences each time. This restaurant feels like 3 different restaurants. They have the upstairs which is very casual and bright with a bar. Then downstairs there is another bar and a seating area that feels more formal (this part is cozy and would be perfect for a date night) then in the back downstairs is another seating area with a brickoven. The same menu is availablein all areas. The mixed drinks are delicious. The fried oysters are highly recommended. The pizza is very good. The hot dogs are just hot dogs. Nothing special. The service here is very good, staff is friendly. I'm looking forward to coming back!
I love this place. If we lived closer, we would eat here regularly. Everything we have tried - sandwiches, pizza, etc - has been delicious. The wait staff is friendly & efficient. If the weather is nice, they have a great deck out back.
If I'm honest, the service was horrible. We waited the stated 20 min. for a table at a downstairs bar. Clearly they forgot about us. The bartender, who was great, intervened and got them to seat us. Then they forgot about us again. After waiting another 20 min. For a waitress who never showed, we went back to the bar and ordered food from the bartender. Food was excellent. Bartender comped us each a beer for our troubles, and all was forgiven. We will be back, but hopefully the service will be better from the wait staff.
Greatest baked potato in town! Thanks for the suggestion, Tim. I will definitely be back for more of those delicious spuds.
We had good hopes for this restaurant. We came here to celebrate with my mutual birthday with my dad. Unfortunately, there were many missed opportunities. To start, my champagne was completely flat, which was not a big deal and it was easily remedied. My mom ordered a salad and didn’t receive it, and my dad ordered coffee that was cold. The server did not check back after delivering food. We ordered dessert and I told the server it was my dad’s birthday but she didn’t say anything special. I received my dessert after my parents had both finished theirs. My burger was rare when I asked for medium. All the food tasted good!! Ultimately, these are little things but given they could easily have been prevented. I would definitely go back and give them another chance!
They did a great job with everything today. Despite the added protections in place due to Covid, we enjoyed a nice meal with little thought of it. Service and meals were great.
Just had brunch there for the first time. Excellent.
Nice locale. Expected more. Ho hum . Good service. Nice rear deck. . . .if other places are full. . .
Fantastic and delicious food, I liked the ambience this place has, and the workers were very friendly. I will definitely visit here next time.
Good food. Good service. Fair price.
Food was great but wait was a little long. We were seated pretty quickly at our table but waited over an hour for our food. 10 mins in to the wait we were told they didn't have the appetizer we wanted then we waited about an hour for a burger and sandwich. Server was great and other staff very friendly. Would return again to get full experience.
Sunday lunch, was sat in the basement, promptly waited on, order taken, and good came out quickly. In terms of service, nothing to complain about what so ever. Our table ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich, margarita pizza, warm spinach salad, a pepperoni pizza, and a bacon cheeseburger - the good came out quickly and all of it was amazing!!!! This will certainly be a frequently visited location!
Good food, atmosphere, service from all staff except.Hostess needs to be replaced. Completely rude, unprofessional little snot on numerous visits.
I've gone to this restaurant a few times, and each time has been excellent. They are unique both in the physical layout and the menu, as the restaurant is essentially a pizza shop on one floor and a more traditional restaurant on another. I've had items from both and it's all amazing. The best thing item I've had however are the fried oysters, whether on their own as an appetizer or the fried oyster po boy. Their drink menu is also excellent, with all their beers on tap being from Virginia. Service is also excellent, with food coming out very quickly, and staff being very attentive. I would go back again and definitely plan to.
With the new "normal" of eating out, I was very impressed with Bear Bistro. We were politely greeted at the door, where I saw on their table set up was hand sanitizer, hand wipes and other disposable utensils. We sat out back and our server, Virginia, was excellent. Each dining table had their own bottle of hand sanitizer on it and servers were respectful of social distancing (as best they could). When I saw a table leave, the staff was very attentive so clean and disinfect not only the table but the chairs as well. Not to mention the food is always delicious and they have a great vegetarian selection! 100% recommend.
GREAT menu! Wide array of choices and prices and everything tastes great!!
Quaint. Good service. Not great food. Tomato Basil soup was comparable to chunky marinara sauce and didn't notice any basil. Meals came out at different times. Wait staff offered to adjust the bill for the mistakes.
The Bistro is usually very good. However, we were there for Thanksgiving & the meal was.mediocer at best. A traditional dinner, the soup, turkey & potatoes were good; stuffing very poor (reportedly with oysters) & mac/cheese very dry. The roll were inedible, having sat too long under a heat lamp. The cheese cake was very good, but the pumpkin pie quite poor. This was completely unlike their normal cuisine.
It was very busy but i guess that is a good thing. Many people were having a large group gatherings. I ordered the vegan sloppy joe and fries and it came out about 30 minutes before everyone else food at my table. They did have about 4 vegan options to choose from. Overall it was good and probably will return.
Great pizza, but also awesome sandwiches
I simply enjoyed their dishes. I always get good customer service here. The place is clean and the cashiers are always very kind. Will come visit again.
Black Bear is one of my local favorites .Their brick oven pizzas have such a variety you could try a new one each time..They always have fantastic lunch specials and great recommendations for wine..Outdoor seating is my favorite..They change up their menu so there is always new and fabulous meals to check out.
Took my mother there for Sunday lunch. We had garlic knots, side salads, and a wood fired pizza. It all came out quickly and was delicious. The staff was freindly and helpful
Out on two wheels and came across this gem of a place. Quaint atmosphere with a bar and general seating. Staff was warm and friendly. Nice selection of pizzas and American style food with a twist. The Philly Steak Calzone was solid! So good I rode back out the next day for seconds. Good flavor profile of the meat, cheese, and dressing, the bread was slightly crisp and soft at the same time, and a fresh salad was a tasty lunch. Stop by, give it a try, and come back for seconds...
Amazing food..but service is not up to par.It pains me to say this because Black Bear truly is my favorite food joint in Fauquier- but the untimely service has soured our family’s experience many times now. We’re patient as both my wife and I have worked in the service industry and understand the challenges..but in the last 4-5 times we’ve gone over the last year, each time has been met with very lengthy greet times, ages before we get beverages, and almost always an hour wait for...pizza and sandwiches. Now I’m positive this is not a direct reflection of the wait staff themselves, but how the kitchen handles peak and non peak times. Something in the process is causing these delays. Ultimately the food will smooth over the experience but the waits and lack of attention to service continues to worsen. For us if it continues, it won’t be worth the wait.
